Hyatt Place UC Davis

Here for a college tour. Nadia provided superb service when we checked in. Friendly and knowledgeable about the area. She was a great representation for UC Davis as she is a student herself, she answered a lot of our campus questions. Great location, UC Davis and town w/in walking distance. Because of Nadia’s great service we will definitely stay at this location again. Clean and roomy room, comfy beds and nice breakfast.

Went to visit someone at the hotel. Plenty of parking, obvious entrance, clean. Room was well laid out. Seating area comfortable.

Checked out today. Best front desk team I’ve encountered among all Hyatt places we’ve stayed at. You guys make the stay even better! The only downside was the residual smell from the cleaning products they used to clean the bathroom in the room (at least that’s our guess). Great location and the stay was overall clean and quiet.

This stay blew my expectations out of the water! I received a free room upgrade as well as a Hyatt member of the day, which waived my parking fee and got me free goodies as well as a personalized card! This was also my honeymoon, since my wife and I both graduated from UCD a few years ago and this made for an unforgettable experience!

Hyatt Place UC Davis itself is solid. The rooms are clean, staff are professional, and the experience feels consistent with what you’d expect from the brand. It’s comfortable, well-run, and one of the more reliable options in the area. The contrast with the surrounding UC Davis environment, however, is striking. While the hotel operates with clarity and efficiency, the nearby campus culture feels far less effective. From my perspective, the university offers a relatively low return on investment given the time, cost, and effort involved. Outcomes often seem disconnected from the promises used to attract students and visitors. There’s also an atmosphere around the campus that feels overly political and hierarchical. Advancement appears to depend less on merit and more on navigating internal dynamics—aligning with the right people, managing optics, and avoiding conflict rather than producing strong results. That kind of environment can be discouraging, especially for capable or independent thinkers. Hyatt Place stands out precisely because it doesn’t reflect those issues. It delivers what it advertises without unnecessary drama. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the broader UC Davis ecosystem nearby, which feels bogged down by politics and inefficiency rather than driven by performance. If you’re staying in the area, the hotel is a good choice. Just don’t confuse the quality of Hyatt Place with the quality of the institution next door—they operate on very different standards.

I had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Place UC Davis. The manager, Nadia, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. She handled every issue with care, quickly resolved my concerns, and even changed my room to ensure my comfort. Her kindness and professionalism truly made a difference — I felt prioritized and cared for throughout my stay. As a dietitian, I really appreciate when hotels offer healthy, thoughtful food options. The breakfast here was excellent — fresh, balanced, and delicious — with plenty of fruit, whole grains, and protein choices. I also loved that fruit-infused water and coffee were available around the clock. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Davis. Thank you, Nadia, for making my experience such a positive one!

Wonderful reception by Ginger left us a hand written note in our room with gifts and an our name on a welcome board. Thank you for a great welcome. Hotel is within walking distance to the visitor center. Great location if visiting the college campus.

The service was AMAZING!! The staff were SO helpful and friendly! The hospitality was top notch! I booked the hotel through booking.com and supposedly there had been some issues with the reservations not coming through. No problem! The gal there said no problem we will get you a room for the same price and you will be able to check in early. I was SO excited to hear this! I was exhausted from a very long flight and showed up to the hotel early. I just wanted to shower and go to sleep. The lady was SO great and got me right in. She explained the situation with the issues with booking.com and between her and my husband reaching out to booking.com, our refund was on its way before we even got to our room. The night staff took great care of me when I needed anything and the cleaning staff were so friendly and chipper. The entire experience was excellent and I thank you all SO much!!!
